To embed a video on a page, first you need to upload the video to either lutube, youtube or vimeo.
This service is suitable for videos which will only be embedded on your site, and are not intended for a wider audience. In order to upload videos using this service, you need to have a university account, or preferably a project account which is managed using a generic leeds.ac.uk email address (so videos are not uploaded using your personal account).
Embedding an lutube video using the lutube shortcode
This service is suitable for videos which are intended to reach a wider audience. Videos need to be uploaded by staff in Communications to the University youtube channel, and need to be prepared with the university branding (introduction, watermark, etc.). Please contact Richard Ashby firstname.lastname@example.org.

Vimeo is suitable for anything which doesn’t fit into the former two categories, and will require a vimeo account – preferably one which is managed using a generic leeds.ac.uk email address (so videos are not uploaded using your personal account).
Embedding a vimeo video using the vimeo shortcode
Depending on where in the page the video is going to be embedded, you will probably need to adjust its width and height to fit. Videos are embedded using the dimensions 640px x 360px by default, but pages have the following dimensions:
- Page with both sidebars – content area is 520px wide, so videos should be 520px x 292px
- Page with right hand sidebar only – content area is 700px wide, so videos should be 700px x 394px
- Page with left hand sidebar only – content area is 760px wide, so videos should be 760px x 427px
