Horizon 2020 project to assess the risks of novel nanomaterials

hisentsHISENTS is a new project in the School of Chemistry, the School of Chemical and Process Engineering – Institute for Materials Research, and School of Mechanical Engineering. The project aims to deliver an advanced nanosafety platform capable of providing high-throughput toxicity screening for the risk assessment of novel nanomaterials, and draws on academic expertise in electrochemistry, nanomaterial synthesis and characterisation, and microfluidics.

The platform will be made up of an integrated set of miniaturised modules each representing critical human physiological functions from molecular interactions, through to cell, organ and organism effects.
